Sharing Data

Sharing data with other processes and other systems

Organising data often involves saving information in various formats or converting stored data, so the information can be used by other software programs.
For example, when sending an email with an attached picture. The picture file is stored as a JPEG file by a program. For the picture to be sent the email program must convert the image to ASCII text data (as the email system was only designed to transfer or carry pure ASCII text data). The image is automatically converted by the email program so that the image data can be sent and shared with another system, the converted back by the recievers email program upon receiving the file.
