Storing and Retrieving - Summary

Storing and Retrieving is a process that involves two steps:
- saving (storing) data or information to a storage device for temporary or permanent safe-keeping.
- reloading (retrieving) the same data or information from the storage device for further processing.

Note: The retrieved data must always be the same as the stored data

The main reasons we store data is to allow:
- other processes, like analysing and use of the data later on
- the transferring of data to other systems
- making a backup copy for safe storage
- save information so that other tasks can be performed, or the system can be turned off
